What is a Public Safety Course?
A public firearms safety course (11029NAT Course in Firearms and Weapons Safety – required to apply for a firearm licence) is conducted on a scheduled weekend with between 20-25 members of the public and an approximate duration of 9-10 hours. A public safety course is the most economical option.

Course Outline (11029NAT Course in Firearms Safety)
The course encompasses a combination of theory and practical elements that includes firearms legislation, licensing requirements, firearm terminology and function, safe storage and transportation requirements, safety handling and more.
Students are required to complete a theory and practical examination designed by the Queensland Police Service and be deemed competent in all aspects to be issued their 11029NAT certificate in Firearms and Weapons Safety.

Due to range booking requirements, a minimum number of students must be enrolled for the course to proceed. You will be notified if the course needs to be rescheduled due to insufficient numbers.
Anyone that meets the above requirements may undertake any of the safety courses. However, to be issued a license you need to satisfy the specified criteria as per the Queensland Police Service requirements.
